GUIDELINES


Thank you for choosing Valley Waste disposal for the removal of your residential garbage.  The following guidelines have been set to ensure proper servicing of your trash.  We ask that you adhere to all guidelines in order to provide the best service possible: 

*WE DO NOT PICKUP ANIMAL CARCASSES*

Pick up time: Routes may change from week to week due to adding new customers.  In order to insure your stop is not missed, trash must be out by 5:00am.
Backdoor service: Trash is to be left at the top of customer's driveway in a designated area.  Customers with backdoor service MUST abide by the following:

1.    Driveway must be clear of all debris and vehicles, driveway must be wide enough to accommodate our trucks in a safe manner.
2.    There should be plenty of space for our trucks to turn around.
 

Inclement Weather

 We will always try to collect on your scheduled day.  If that is not possible, we will collect on your next scheduled day, (a week later) unless you are notified by phone or e-mailed of a rescheduled pickup day the same week.  

NO CREDIT WILL BE ISSUED FOR A MISSED PICKUP DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS. If our driver does not see, dirt, gravel or blacktop, we will not drive down.   WE WILL BE COLLECTING TWO WEEKS WORTH OF GARBAGE THE FOLLOWING WEEK.  ALL BACKDOOR CUSTOMERS MUST BRING TRASH TO CURB DURING BAD WEATHER...WE WILL NOT BE GOING DOWN ANY PRIVATE DRIVES DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

Containment: The amount of garbage from a single home, should not exceed, 96 gallons, if it does on a continual basis we will adjust your billing.  For safety purposes, please do not have long pieces of wood, metal, glass, etc. sticking out of the top or sides of your trash containers.  ALL GLASS should be wrapped in newspaper so that it does not shatter in the street or driveway.

Yard Debris:     In addition to your household garbage, we will take up to (4) bags of yard debrsi, (grass and leaves) per pickup day at no extra charge.  OVER 4 BAGS THERE WILL BE AN EXTRA CHARGE OF, .50 per bag.  Branches should be cut into sections no longer than 4ft. and must be bundled and tied w/string or tape, in a manageable size for one person to carry.  (You should be able to wrap your arms around the bundle)

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS: The Commonwealth of Virginia, prohibits throwing hazardous materials into trash containers due to health risks.  If there is a question please call office. 

Recycling Guidelines: We are no longer required to separate recycling. Valley Waste has gone to complete streamline recycling. Which means you can set all your recycling out together Items #1-#7. We recycle, metal cans, aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars,plastic bottles,jugs,jars, cardboard flattened, newspapers and magazines, and anything paper board. Iteams we do not recycle, Lids, caps & tops, pizza boxes, plastic food boxes, Aluminum foils & trays, prescription vials, alkaline batteries, styrofoam packaging, foam take-out containers, light bulbs, paper plates & napkins, yogurt & dairy tubs.

Bulk Items:  Any items other than household garbage are considered bulk or special pickup items. These may include furniture, electronic equipment, small carpets, small appliances, construction debris in small quantities, such as toilets, wall tile, sinks can be picked up for an additional charge, Minimum charge of $10.00.  Please call office one week in advance to arrange for pickup.  

Billing:    Service is billed quarterly, (3 month cycle) statements will be mailed or emailed.  Payment is due upon receipt.  A service charge will be applied to all accounts in the sum of, $25.00 for all returned checks.
